Lettering in the Holiday

Is it Christmas yet? 🥴

A fellow teacher and I have dismissal duty together at the end of every school day. We say goodbye to students keep a record of which buses, car riders and walkers have been dismissed. Should the bus duty staff need an answer to how a student is traveling home, we are nearest the main office to find out and walkie them a response.

Every year, we notice, there comes a time when we get ‘revolving door syndrome’. It’s when you just arrived on duty…different day of the week…different outfit… but you feel like you were just there moments ago and wonder if you’d ever truly gone home the night before.

I feel that time of the year has been sufficiently reached.

Between full moons and students who also know the holiday is near, I think teachers all over this country are already counting down the days to the Christmas break…a time to sleep in, to laze on the sofa eating whatever version of your edible kryptonite, and to treat yourself to a bathroom break for nothing more than to feel the freedom.

I’m so looking forward to it!

But, I do have a few more events yet before I get to kick back.

Along with the last of my wine bottle engraving events, I also have a calligraphy event where I’ll be calligraphing (or otherwise adorning) glass ornaments. I’ve been practicing a little here and there since I can’t be sure what exactly to expect.

I figured I’d take a couple to show some possibilities for customers to see in case they draw a blank.

With the exception of the wreath in the ‘Tis the Season’ ornament, these were done with markers. But, I intend to take paints too, just in case. And for extra points, even after a long day of work, I attended a workshop on engraving and painting a glass ornament held by Telisa of Roessein Art and Michelle of Juniper Calligraphy. Together, they gave a demonstration of a super cute design as well as a free template for personal use.

Did you attend too? 😊

While I’m really excited about this event, I’m super-excited about the down time on the way too.

Rest is just as important as productivity…and I intend to just enjoy my family for a bit. No doubt, I’ll still be creating. But, when the days start running into each other, and it feels like everything is on autopilot, I miss my people.

The holidays are a great time to not only enjoy giving and receiving presents, but to also enjoy the presence of those you love. It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

Happy merry making!
