Sweater Weather
My desk is a mess…
And you know what that means. 😕
But, on the off chance you don’t, it’s widely believed that a messy environment is birthed from a messy mind.
Today, it’s true.
I’ve been bouncing around from calligraphy to bottle painting, and everything in between for the past few weeks. This week, I was playing with some bottle painting from FBPA and some cartouches a la Younghae Chung of @logos_calligraphy.
And since it’s fall, I had to take out some color. It just brightens up the gray days. a smidge.
Last week, I was testing out hundreds of fabric and acrylic markers for an event at Bloomingdales at the King of Prussia Mall. That’s only a slight exaggeration.
But, that stuff is all fun and games.
Instead, my fuzzy brain could be the result of the three-week long cold I’m only now just bouncing back from into regular-schmegular allergy territory.
Sweater weather, indeed.
Yet another likely the culprit is seeing crisis after crisis play out across the globe. In short order, we have gone from political unrest, and the indictment of a former president…to fires in Hawaii…to the latest tragedy in current events…the unexpected war between Palestine and Israel. It’s enough to make your head spin.
I have read a little about the history of how this war came to be…and I hear about the lives lost.
Mostly, the children.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, there’s a lot to process there for me, and I admit, I go to God with questions.
And it hurts. I’m a mother and a teacher.
And these are babies.
I wouldn’t be so foolish to presume that children overseas suffer any greater or less than children in the US with our own history and ongoing violence on this soil. But, it’s my opinion that, instead of fighting to survive, all children should be learning, playing and growing. That’s it. That’s all.
Even though through my reading on this war, I still only understand any of it in part, the best I can do to make sense of it all is to pray for peace to be restored to the lives involved in the crossfire and the extensive amount of trauma that will need to be healed in its aftermath. It’s the only answer I can find. 🙏🏾
Truly, the human mind wasn’t made to comprehend these atrocities and the cold-heartedness that birth them. Mine never will.
Stay warm. 🙏🏾
