Express Yourself

In the end, that’s what it’s all about anyway.

So far, 2020 has been the weirdest year on so many levels. From the death of Kobe Bryant to the pandemic and the protests against social injustice, to even the cataclysmic rise of Karens and Kens, the year has been pretty full.

This past week, my 2020 got even fuller when I witnessed my daughter seizing. As an autism mom, I’ve spent years being hyper vigilant. But, I found even that could reach new heights as the crazy of 2020 continues to change the world a bit more for me.

I turned to lettering at the start of the quarantine for a relaxing and fun way to distract my mind from all the crazy. But, I’ve since learned that this medium has been used throughout to express feelings and thoughts about every single one of those issues I mentioned. In fact, one sentiment early on in the quarantine had to do with the heroes on the front line. After having my own daughter seen at AI Children’s Hospital, I chose to revisit that. This is my way of saying “thank you” to all those that helped me care for my daughter through that seizure from the person on the other end of the 911 call to the paramedics and the hospital staff, to my family and friends who prayed for me and my daughter and checked in on us. I’m so grateful. ❤️
