Be Your Elf - DIY Gifting During the Holidays
Santa’s helper is a wee bit tired of late...
Last week, in our school, not a student was found…but there were plenty elves. I was one of them! Ordinarily, with students in the building, there’s a ton of activities during the holiday. But, as schools go back into all virtual learning models, the staff and teachers are left to fend for themselves.
The staff members at my school were undeterred. There were a few distanced celebrations to be had and I usually lend a few letters for the cause.
But there was one I wasn’t in on…
The staff threw a party for my wedding! Although I do fine as the center of attention when necessary, I am not the person who typically takes center stage. Aside from our family, not many people knew we were getting married so soon. I quietly stuck a chalkboard mockup on my Facebook and called it a day. My FB friends who happen to be co-workers must’ve sprung into action because the party was the very next week…and they kept it as quiet as I did about the wedding! 😂 It was unexpected and a very sweet surprise.
In return, I made them some ‘Thank You’ cards.
It was good practice and a unique way to say thanks to all of those who planned it since no two were the same.
Besides that, our School Principal and Head of School coincidentally share a birthday. I was asked by our school’s bling expert (she’s the go-to person in our school for all things glitter) to help out with decorating their doors. So, I made some letters and a banner.
The surprise was short-lived since we were caught on camera and the principal recognized my lettering anyway. 😂
Hey, it’s the thought that counts.
In between time, I just work on my cards. Being my own elf means time’s running out on those.
Yeah….It’s definitely time to get my elf in gear!
Christmas is almost here!
