Teacher Time: Teacher Appreciation
Last day of school! Last day of school! (In my Nemo voice.)
My last day of school was a couple weeks ago. But, my daughter’s last day is today. Her teacher arranged to bring her lunch for the day. So sweet!
Teacher Appreciation Week kind of went by in a blur for me this year with remote learning and the quarantine. Zooming the whole time has been tiring to say the least. One schedule for me and another for my daughter. But I try to make mandatory un-fun things as fun as possible for myself. So, for my Zoom profile, I would swap out the lettering that I’d been doing for the students during our Listen and Draw sessions. Whenever I didn’t want to be on screen for work meetings, I’d just use the image of my lettering for that week. But, since my daughter and I use the same Zoom account, when I swapped a piece of lettering out for another, my daughter’s teacher (we’ll call her Ms. N) would tell me how much she liked the new profile pic. So, I made her some art! It’s a ‘Thank You’ postcard that I started in my sketchbook, worked over in Procreate and then printed on my home printer. You can see some of that below.
Above is the digital version of the finished sketch. Procreate has a setting for postcards which made this easy to start.
Since things print differently, below is a photo of it printed from my home printer (I use an older, low-to-mid end, all-in-one Canon). Since I have a little time, I arranged it how things are done on IG where you get to see most of the tools I used along the way to make the card and envelope.
The colors are not quite as saturated in the print version. But I’m okay with that. Even though my favorite colors are orange and blue-greens, I’m more of a muted tones kind of girl anyway.
At any rate, I hope Ms. N likes this one too!
