Call Me Alice

Rabbit holes are everywhere in the lettering community.

The more I practiced, the more I wanted to practice. It was so therapeutic. I was posting my projects on my personal Facebook page. Quite a few of my friends liked that I had started the Coronavirus 2020 Album. It was my way of calming my mind and they enjoyed seeing it. Some had taken up their own creative pursuits and shared them with me too. But, nobody I knew was learning to letter. So, I joined some Facebook groups. I liked those. I also started taking a few lettering classes. I tend to have a better rate of finishing the shorter ones. One of my favorite groups is Loveleigh Loops. It’s a nice community for people who want to learn to letter on the iPad and to do modern calligraphy as well. I created some projects like these with one of their classes.

I plan to finish the classes before the end of the summer.
But, I found I was also interested in seeing a steady stream of a wide range of lettering styles from both aspiring letterers and OG’s. And you know what? There’s an app for that too.
It’s called Instagram and it’s one of those rabbit holes that you just can’t dig yourself out of. I can’t be sure at the moment of when I stopped posting to my personal Facebook album and started posting to a brand spanking new IG account. But, that eventually happened too.
